Charity News

Monday, 27 June 2011 by Jim Swann

I was just commenting the other day about how generous dancers are when it comes to charities. Well Nanette McCoy has just emailed me on a completely different matter and happened to say that last year her dance in St Galls Church Hall raised £7,500.00 for charity. This year she is hoping to go one better with a target of £9,000.00.
Why not help her to attain her goal and enjoy a Saturday nights dancing in St.Gall at the same time.

Charity Dances

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of money raised by dancers for a wide variety of good causes. And in July you will have the opportunity to contribute to another two worthy causes.

Our friend Brian Hobbs is running a dance in the Dundonald Methodist Church Hall on Friday 8th July in aid of his local family based charity. The music will be by Billy Faulkner. A really good supper will be provided by the ladies of the church and admission is only £3.00.

The second is an Old Tyme and Sequence Dance in the Owenbeg Bowling Club in Stream Street, Downpatrick again on Friday 8th July, in aid of the Down Special Olympics. Music by Housty. Admission £5.00 Light refreshments and a Raffle.

Please give these two charities you support.

Regretfully June North died suddenly at the weekend. June was a well known and much respected member of the Sequence Dancing fraternity and will be missed by her family and friends.
